He is interested in the displacement, collection and arrangement of objects as a method of constructing value and communicating meanings and recognises his own role as an artist in this system. He takes an exploratory approach to a diverse range of physical media, gravitating towards subjects that exist on the periphery of the dominant gaze and defy simple categorisations whilst not overlooking their articulation of vernacular culture, mass production, and memory embodied in materials and processes.
Western art historical narratives and processes inform his practice and are embedded in his sustained exploration of plaster alongside various organic substances. His studio based activity is often fragmented and has recently materialised in exhibitions as assemblages of cast and found objects which blur the line between reality and illusion, carefully rendered drawings, or multi channel audio installations. Works sit in playful dialogue with traditions of museological display and readymades, turning attention to the context around objects and their incorporation of different interpretations, thereby engaging and destabilising the contemporary viewer’s experience of being in a world abundant with things.
